What is Twenty CRM?
Twenty was founded in 2023 in Paris by Félix Malfait, Charles Bochet and Thomas des Francs, and joined the Y Combinator Summer 2023 batch. Its GitHub repository has more than 56,000 stars as of 14 September 2026. The project presents itself as an open alternative to Salesforce.

Licence. The code is mostly under AGPLv3. Files marked "Enterprise" fall under a commercial licence, and the development kits are under the MIT licence. An exception written by Twenty lets you build apps on its published interfaces under any licence you choose.

Fit
Who Twenty is a good fit for
- Companies that want to keep their customer data on a server they control, in France or elsewhere in Europe.
- Teams whose process does not fit the standard pipeline of a commercial CRM: properties and listings, case files, candidates, contracts.
- Businesses paying for many per-user licences when their needs are simple.
- Teams that want to plug AI agents into their CRM without depending on a vendor's AI add-on.

AI
Connecting Twenty to Claude
Twenty supports the Model Context Protocol, which lets Claude look up a record, create a task or update an opportunity in plain language. As of 14 September 2026, Twenty does not appear in Claude's official connector directory, so you have to add it as a custom connector, which only owners of a Team or Enterprise workspace can do.
One thing to watch: on 18 April 2026, a GitHub issue reported that with self-hosted Twenty 1.23.4, authentication failed when adding the connector in Claude.ai, while it worked with local clients. We test the connection on the installed version before delivery, and we use a custom agent that calls the Claude API when using it from Claude.ai is unreliable.
